September 2009 brought me my ninth foster litter of the year. I was given a choice of the two little ones or a touching family scene of adorableness. I have no strength to so say no so… yes! Yes to five new foster kittens and their mom Bella. We named the kittens Poppy, Louie, Pom Pom, and Pepper, three girls and a boy. Mom Bella was a gorgeous little gal, friendly and smoochy, very vocal and chatty. The kittens were all little characters right from the start.
Pom Pom was my first ever grey foster kitty and I found it very hard to resist her charms. (I have a huge soft spot for tabbies and greys.) She had such magnificent grey fur with that extra outer layer of softness for extra adorability! Not since the likes of Delilah has a kitteh been sooooo photogenic. She even charmed me into breaking one of my rules of fostering… I allowed her to come into the bedroom. She could easily pass for a British Blue so I knew she would be snapped up very quickly.
Louie was such a handsome and majestic little man! After cleaning, Cleany McClean (Louie's nickname) liked playing peek-a-boo. He was such a character and a little rocket too!
Poppy was a little dynamo… galloping about the place and playing with her siblings. She enjoyed life as a kitten oh so much! :) She also had a tiny amount of white flecks on her front legs (like her brother Louie) which helped differentiate her from Pepper. Poppy was the strongest of the four and didn't get sick at all, unlike her siblings who all needed at least a bit of medicine.
If Poppy was a little dynamo, then Pepper was the little nuclear rocket! She was the tiniest so she was literally pint sized but she was the fastest on her tiny little legs. She was almost called Nibbles because of her liking to nibble on fingers, but the name Pepper seemed to have the right amount of spice for her feisty disposition. Pepper lived life in the fast lane… played hard, slept even harder. She was the first that started to purrr just when she saw you, which is always a great feeling. She was also very curious and would happily investigate your face, sniffing all over and finishing with a smooch. :) Pepper had pectus excavatum, meaning her ribcage was not formed properly. She had to have two operations before she was ready for adoption but she came through with flying colors.
All four kittens and mom Bella were adopted, though none of them together.
