Nadia [redux]

Brendan says: Nadia is a Bengal kitten and was born September 30, 2009. She was under two and a half pounds when I took these photos over the Christmas weekend. I was cat-sitting for friends, and my job was to try to integrate her with the already established Burmese brother and sister cats. Even though four pounds lighter than the female Burmese and six pounds less than the male, she chased them and would steal their food if I didn't intervene. The day after Christmas was her first full day of access to the whole house and she was playing with the male Burmese by the end of the day. If she wasn't purring on me or following me around, she was screaming for attention or food. I miss her. ;)

@ mark temporis: i've never heard tell of any breed of domestic cat being prohibited in the states, provinces, etc. what's up with that...?

Depends on the area, and some areas are really hateful towards kitties. Where we live, they actually preach against cats in some of the (more fundamentalist) churches and people kill them if they can (we've held several of our kitties as they died from poison over the years, and don't let our babies play outside except in a special area we made for them). I've heard of proposed laws against breeds of cats considered to be better hunters or more outdoors. The local paper recently had a regular columnist who declared cats to be an invasive species (and subject to eradication).

They probably think the Bengal is somehow "part wild", rather than domestic.

Reading the comments about places where kitties are banned, preached against, honestly made me sick. Obviously this country is full of backwater places where fundamentalists rule. Surprise!

WHAT A BEAUTY! I guess I'm middle of the road -- I don't believe in trying to domesticate wild breeds or mixed breeding of wild and domestic species just so some people can have an exotic pet.
But I also believe in "an eye for an eye" -- anyone who poisons or harms another living creature should have to drink their own poison or get beaten themselves.
