Michael says: One day about two years ago a stray cat brought two kittens onto my girlfriend's parents' back porch in Belgium. My girlfriend called them
Edgar and
Ellen. Three days later, the mom cat brought a third kitten! What other name to give him than Poe? The mom cat couldn't have picked a better porch because my girlfriend committed to caring for them as much as she possibly could without making them house pets (something her father was adamant about). All three came down with upper respiratory ailments, and while Edgar and Ellen recovered fairly quickly, Poe struggled since he was a little behind his bigger sisters in growth and development. He needed hand feeding and extra antibiotics treatments, but soon he started to get better and he turned out to be the most attention seeking of the trio. Eventually my girlfriend moved 100 km away to live with me and the kittens were left to the feral life. Poe occasionally still stops by in the backyard but for the most part he has moved on to a different area of the neighbourhood due to territorial conflicts… We did call the Felix Project and they did trap, neuter, and release on all the strays in the neighborhood.
