Kirk says: Cosmo was left alone outside of the local Humane Society when he was a six-week-old kitten. He was discovered in the brush by a HS volunteer when a dog started to bark at him. Luckily he was able to nurse from a calico mommy with a litter of kittens that were just about the same age as him. We adopted him when he was eight weeks old. At first we wanted to have Cosmo as an indoor cat, but he was determined to go outside and was going stir crazy in the house. So we finally gave in when we thought he was old enough and let him be an indoor/ outdoor cat. He's a spirited and mischievous kitty that spends much of his awake time outdoors (unless it's raining, snowing, cold, or windy). He's friendly most of the time, but can get quite grumpy and be a serious pest when he's hungry. He's less afraid of water than the average cat. His very favorite treat is whipped cream, followed by turkey, tuna, and chicken. His favorite activities are hunting, eating, and sleeping. When he's stuck inside he resorts to hunting my nine-year-old son and four-year-old daughter!

I wonder if he is a "munchkin" kitty. His legs seem short, or is it just the pictures that make them look that way. He is absolutely adorable and beautiful. As he grows older, maybe he will settle down and be more an indoor kitty, more calm.

Cosmo is such a handsome guy. Beautiful long hair tabby, with the pretty blue eyes. Sounds like he has a great life under under your watch-full eyes. Love the name Cosmo.

Cosmo is a beauty! I do wish you had kept him an indoor kitty. I know it can be hard especially with little kids who forget to look where the cat is when they go outside but he would live longer and safer inside.

I have a Kosmo too. He was a feral that I was feeding and hoping to trap and neuter and then find him a home. Well he was still pretty wild and I could barely pet him so I didn't trap him fast enough. He disappeared for a week and I was so sad, thinking that the coyotes had gotten him. Then one Friday night late he showed up but he was limping. I really didn't have a choice but to trap him then, because he would not have made it on his own in that condition. As it turned out the leg was broken straight across and could not have been casted or pinned so he needed to have that back leg amputated. He is also a khaki colored tabby. His fill name is Kosmo Mayweather because he is such a fighter. He is healing well but we have miles to go to get him tame. He will stay with me and my batch of babies. I am telling you this because the outdoors is dangerous. Keep your baby in and he will get used to it. Promise!

To steal a quote from The Little Mermaid: "Like I always say, Your Majesty, "children have got to be free to lead their own lives."" So, sometimes, do kitties. I know being outside shortens a cat's life, but I can't stand to see them cooped up and miserable, either.

Maybe you should leave your kids outside Jaypea and not have any kitties.

It was a bit hard to pick a favourite as the photos are all gorgeous! I'm with JayPea though and in NZ kitties in the rural area where we live are indoor/outdoor kitties and they are perfectly safe. Ours sleep inside a lot during the day and the night, but are free to use the cat door to go out when they want. They are healthy and very well loved. In some areas it is not safe to let kitties outside, but please don't accuse those of us who do let ours outside of being cruel or neglectful because we are far from that!
