I couldn't leave him behind, so I had to smuggle him home in a box as we were not allowed to bring pets on military aircraft. Once home, he became my best buddy, the once-in-a-lifetime pet. Always with me, always helping, always talking. He slept on my pillow his entire life. His only bad habit was peeing in my shoes whenever I left the house in my flight suit. He knew that flight suit = Mommy away from home. Andrew was an outstanding military cat: he moved with me to Japan, back to the US, around the US and finally into retirement. He passed away far too soon at age 15 from cancer of the small intestine. It's been ten years since he died and I still miss him.
