Penny-Plops!

spygirl says: Penny-Plops! is our polka-dot kitten, now almost seven months old. She has an amazing character and is, as all kittens are, very inquisitive. When she was very small she enjoyed sleeping in my hat which she has now grown too big for! Currently, she enjoys climbing (on our shoulders, ladders, the clothes horse), watching out of the window, and playing chase and a peeping game we call "Peep and Squeak." In two months' time she will be able to venture outside. I'm very excited for her! She lives with her sister Lana-Banana (or Mushroom!) and our five-year-old cat Emily.

What a gorgeous girl Penny is! I would love to see a game of Peep & Squeak. I love the games they invent to keep themselves busy. Our two Bengals had one we called "Madcap Madcats," in which they tore around the house until they nearly melted from the sheer velocity. An then there was "Gophers," in which one would tunnel under the rug while the other waited for an opportunity to pounce on him. Silly kitties!

She is a beauty? I wish her and her sisfur a long and happy life. Venture outside - are you sure it is a good idea? You live right next to a road, where I assume cars pass by.

I also cringed about your letting kitty outside! In one photo you seem to live near a train track, not a road. What are you thinking,@spygirl? We used to put pennies on the RR tracks to flatten them. But we were little idiots.

Whilst i live near a main road our cat door is out the back, we have a great suburban view and our cats have access to a garden of our own several roof-tops and a whole neighbourhood of gardens. Please do not be alarmed cats are actually meant to go outside, its in their nature! They also have our older cat to teach them how to stay safe.

To care about cats - We live in UK, we are not allowing the kittens to go outside until after they have been neutered and micro-chipped.

Indoor-outdoor -- it's a big debate. Personally I keep my cats indoors. I don't think it's fair to let them dig and poop in the neighbours' gardens. Not everyone likes cats on their properties. Plus it's safer for them.

Are the two catties in this photo, siblings? You mentioned her sister and they do resemble one another. Both catties are beautiful and I love their black and white coats. Please be careful when you let Penny-Plops outside to explore.

Heard on some cat show that cats did not become indoor favorites until the invention of cat litter, just crumbled clay in 5lb sacks. But we have made the outside world a more dangerous place for sheltered housecats.

We were all meant to live outside. Spygirl, maybe you should too, so you can also dodge fleas and cars and dogs and other cats and mean children (and adults), and poop in your neighbors' gardens.

If you love your pets, you're supposed to take care of them. Letting them outside isn't actually taking care of them.

She's lovely. Why are people so mean on here? To my mind, keeping a cat inside all its life is unnatural. Spygirl, I hope all your cats have long and happy lives.
