Jenniffer says: It was about 4:15 in the morning and I would have to get up soon to go to work, but was unwilling to leave my warm bed. I heard a mewling noise outside and attributed it to the parrots next to my house. It kept persisting so I got up to take a look. As I walked out I saw a little kitten by an irrigation pipe near a tree. He just hunkered down, as he was too young to run away, hoping I hadn't seen him. Of course I had! So I went and picked him up. I looked around for a bit to see if I saw a mother cat or any other kittens but didn't find any. I took him into the house to check him out. He was unhurt and looked healthy, so I proceeded to take him to work with me and at lunchtime I got a feeding kit and kitten milk. He went to work with me the next few weeks until he was old enough to be weaned and was able to stay home. At first the vet and I both thought he was a girl so I was calling him Orinoco, but after the second week I had changed it to Omashu as he was very much looking like a male. He has grown into a very handsome (and very spoiled) big boy. In fact he weighed 11 pounds at 6 months! Unlike my other cats who want to sleep on my head, he likes to sleep curled into my side every night.
