Michelle says: A woman found these girls up at Lake Berryessa. She grabbed them and didn't even check for a mom cat -- thought she was doing the right thing. She didn't know how to bottle-feed them and she must have posted on Craigslist looking for advice/help. A volunteer put her in touch with me and I tried to explain how to feed them, but she had two little kids and it was going to be tough for her. So we took them in and cared for them and they developed mange. UGH! It was so gross. Our vet is pretty cool and he fashioned some -- what do you call those collars to keep dogs from biting? -- from something he had around the clinic. They had to be small! Eventually their hair grew back, and then the lady said she wanted to foster them until they were adopted but was thinking she might keep one or more of them. I don't know what happened, but no one followed up with her until the kittens were getting pretty old. They must have been close to four months by then. Tiny died, maybe from FIP or heart failure. I never got the full story. Then the woman totally flaked out and abandoned Midnight and Rascal at our rescue. *sigh*
