Mandi says: I arrived at my friends house, ready for good food and good company. While sitting in my favorite chair in their living room, I felt something brush against my pant leg. I looked down and there was the cutest kitten ever, playing with the cuff on my jeans. His blue eyes popped out at me at once. "Oh, yeah, a friend from work was getting rid a surplus of barn kittens." Just a personal note, be careful when letting your teenage son name your new pet.

"Steve French?" I'm afraid that one passes over my head...But he 'shore iz'one handsome little ol' kitty! Maybe we should have a contest to rename him!!? Steve French's "twin brother" walked into my life a couple of summers ago, and I named him "Sam-I-Am, from Siam I am" (He's my avatar!), so maybe Steve French will stick??!!

Steve French is the name of a cougar from an episode of the comedy "Trailer Park Boys.

(I'm a Vancouverite myself, so the Canadian reference didn't manage to slip past me entirely :-) )

Great name! I had a Siamese bundle of mischief named Mr Johnny Johnson. My Calico became Mrs Mortimer after numerous mistakenly dialed phone numbers. The calls tapered after I began offering to take a message as she was busy cleaning her paws. I am presently blessed with a Tuxedo who answers to M.E. Bean.

Steve French is adorable!

I wanted to name my childhood cat Richard but my Dad vetoed it for something ridiculous (Carbon Copy, because he looked like the other black cat we'd lost). So a neighborhood black cat comes around to our house now and I call him Richard, just to get it out of my system. My husband has a friend named Richard, so one night I said casually, "Hey, Richard's at the back door" and my husband bolted out of his chair and exclaimed, "Ohmigod, is he OK?" I finally stopped laughing enough to remind him that the cat has a human name and it was just hungry Richard looking for extra kibble.

Steve French has to be the cutest barn kitten ever! I am so partial to Siamese ... they love to talk and have such great purrsonalities. All of our pets have human names, too.

Steve is so cute. Back in Oct. I found one who looks like him. Her name is Buffy. Her mother is also a barn cat. She is a black tuxedo long hair. I am not sure who the dad is. Buffy has long hair, 4 white paws and a bib. She also has a white C on the side of her nose. This color kitten is so neat. Here's to Steve and a happy life.

@darina--glad you got a laugh! Human Richard thought it was pretty funny too. He keeps threatening to show up at the back door unannounced.

Steve French was the name of a cougar on the old, profane Canadian series, Trailer Park Boys. (At one point Ellen Page of Juno appeared on the show.) It still doesn't settle the question of why Steve French--or does it?

My very first Siamese cat started out as a gift for my grandmother. I kept her mewling in the kitchen until Munna came on Christmas Day. What a surprise, then lo and behold a Christmas Miracle happened and Munna could not take her. The kitten became "The Cat" and lived a long and happy life with me. What a character she was. You're lucky to have little Stevie wander into your life!
