Ash1Rose says: Cid is a brown and grey tabby that we adopted from the Chester County SPCA in West Chester, Pennsylvania. He's named after the reoccurring character from my favorite video game series, Final Fantasy. We decided that our older cat Kin-mei (who also has his own Good Morning Kitten page!) needed a friend. Well Cid gave him much more than he bargained for! The SPCA thought he was around 6 or 7 months old when we adopted him in March 2012, but they weren't sure since he was a surrender along with six other animals. When we first saw him he was suffering from a wicked upper respiratory infection, which actually worked out to our advantage as we needed to get some documents in order before adopting, and, apparently brown tabbies are the second hardest to adopt out (the first being black cats). Long story short combining that with his cold there was very little chance anyone would snatch him up before we could. Cid is a little clown and what I like to call a purrbot. He purrs ALL THE TIME. You pick him up, he purrs. You pet him, he purrs. You look at him, he purrs. Sometimes I'll be woken up to the sound of purring in my ear and it is loud. He also likes to hide under the bed and swipe at her feet as we walk by. He used to fall off the window sill when startled and not really land on his feet. The expression on his face was priceless, but as he's gotten older his coordination has very much improved. Cid drives poor Kin-mei crazy, and I don't think the old grump has forgiven me for bringing him into the house, but they do sleep together and clean each other even if they might fight like brothers.

Two lovely cats! That awful Upper Respiratory-- sometimes it is herpes and Cid will do well with lysine twice a day for life. Check with your vet, of course. Worked for mine.

Very luckily he hasn't had any issues since we've brought him home! I think it was the shelter environment and naughty people sticking their fingers in the cages (even though they're told not to), which spreads the germs.

Handsome Cid and Kin-mei look so peaceful in these photos :~) Thank you for adopting Cid the PurrBot, who's so grateful for his furrever home - and a big brother to play with/tease. And how wonderful to be woken by Cid's purrs!

Why would that color be hard to adopt out? We once had an entire litter of 5 little brown/gray tabby boys. They were very pretty but feral. They were about 4-5 months before I finally enticed them into the barn and they started trusting me enough to allow me to pet them but only while they ate. It is a beautiful color and your Cid is a beautiful cat.

I have no idea. It makes no sense to me why brown tabbies are undesireable or to that point black cats. I think it's pretty silly actually.

Your Cid looks just like my kitty Lucy who also died 2 years ago from cancer (my sympathies also to Blazingfires13). Lucy is my profile pic. I love and have had several brown and silver tabbies and I have 2 Bombays now, so I don't get the color biases people have. I am all about the personality of the cat. Your 2 brothers are cute. Hoping you have many happy years with both your boys. :)
