Aimee came to me via a friend of a friend while I was looking for an older cat to adopt. I wanted a nice mannerly, cuddly lap cat when this little tornado was brought to me. Whether she was born feral or dropped off, I don't know, but she immediately tried to establish herself as the boss of me and "her" domain. When I failed to fall in line, she would bite me. Serious bites. Or she would go through the house systematically doing every thing she knew she was not supposed to do, like sweeping the counters clear, making loud noises. Naming her was difficult and she went through many before I settled on Aimee. She was definitely not going to be the lap cat I wanted, I did train her to the leash, sort of, and we took daily walks. Still, she spent many hours in time-out for biting, and I finally opened the door and let her go, much to her joy. She is older now and more sedate as befits her status as the Queen Mouser in the area. She prefers to be outdoors, only checking on me now and again and to get her meals and treats. Since the complex I live in is for in-door cats only, I do try to limit her time outside and have established a bed time when the house is shut up and she is safely in her bed. I believe she must be from a long, long line of barn cats, but have found she is trainable by consistently doing the same thing, the same way, at the same time, every time. Food helps. Still, winter is going to be very interesting.
