I adopted Amelie from the Humane Society right after New Years. I originally was searching for a kitten, but since January isn't kitten season, I wasn't having the best luck. That is when I met Amelie. She was sitting in her cage meowing and purring at me. It was love at first sight. I took her home the next day and she hasn't left my side since.
I often tell people that she is more like a dog than a cat. She loves to play fetch and often demands it when I am trying to sleep in on the weekends. She jumps up on my bed and drops one of her puff balls next to my head and then meows at me. She doesn't stop until she fetches the ball a few times.
I wish I had some photos of her fetching and running around, but it seems like she knows when I grab the camera and she stops in her tracks and runs to me to investigate.
Update: I have now owned Amelie for a year. She is my baby and everyone that meets her falls in love. I have turned several "dog people" into "cat people". She has shown herself as being incredibly smart. She knows how to open up her cat food container and has recently taught her little brother to do the same. She also loves watching the faucet run. In the morning when I am getting ready in the bathroom she demands that I turn on the water so that she can play.
She is my angel and baby.
