Ricky and Rory

gus says: Ricky and Rory come from a feral colony in Queens--there is one as-yet untrappable polydactyl female, and she is presumably their mother. These two were found far from the feeding area though, and only had each other for company. Rory (the brown tabby) is very energetic and outgoing, and protects his much more shy brother Ricky (the gray one). They both had a bad case of ringworm so had to have twice-weekly baths, but as of last week they were well enough to get neutered, vaccinated, and tested, so now they're ready for their forever home! In the carriers on the way home from their appointment, they nuzzled as close as they could to each other, even through the carrier doors. Since they're so attached to each other, we're hoping that we'll be able to find them a home together.

I just had a brain-wave. Show all your photos and this thread on this website to all prospective adopters and maybe that'll be enough to sway someone to adopt these guys together! The more the merrier! These 2 will provide years of entertainment and inspiration if allowed to remain together! I've seen it happen before!

About 17 years ago, we'd lost a cat to a massive tumor in her gut. The family was devastated, because we'd adopted her after we saw her on TV when she was found under a vacant building at a closed Air Force base in Colorado. Next day we went to the shelter, because even our other cat was grieving. Someone had just dropped off a couple of 5-month-old littermates that day, but another family had already said they wanted one of them. We thought it would be a sin to separate them, because they were as close as these two. We asked the shelter to call the other family and explain the situation (we'd even offered them $50), and they agreed to let us have the two brothers. One silver tabby, one orange tabby. We named them Simon & Garfunkel, and they're going to be 18. >^..^< I urge people to NOT separate these two kittehs. They'll love you forever for it. I guarantee it.

Good ideas from the many cat lovers for you- please do try to keep them together at adoption! The link to see them here should help :) Thank goodness there is good treatment for ringworm now. I've rid several of it before, mine, kittens of others, and an "abandoned by Mom-cat" kitten that had to be retrieved from over a high metal fence in Plaza Once, Buenos Aires...!

Rory appears to be very protective of his brother, Ricky in this photo. I pray that they both get adopted together as it would be a shame to separate them after all they have been through on the "streets". Glad that the ringsorm problem has been solved!

Thank you all for your kind words! I'll definitely share this page and all its warm wishes with potential adopters. The two cats I grew up with were brother and sister and you just can't beat that bond between littermates!
