Mister [redux]

slytoffcntr says: Mister was a kitten acquired by the family through the usual neighborhood means… someone needed to get rid of some kittens. He was about two months in most of these pictures, and full of himself. He would help me in the garden in the mornings... digging, hunting... exploring. He kept getting stuck in the tree, but after the second day of the same tree I let him find his way down. He generally would follow me around the yard and play with whatever I was working on. Sadly, Mister came up missing this last summer. It's a risk you take if you let your cat go outdoors, a lesson we learned the hard way.

Being not such a character here, just enjoying his day in a tree?! :) It's so sad to loose a kitty to the wild outside- not knowing what happened to them is almost as bad but we DO learn a lesson the hard way sometimes... I hope you got another happy kitty- or two?

I truly hope Mister did not get killed by a car....having outdoor cats decreases their life expectancy. He looked like a fun fellow....

what a waste. domesticated animals are not meant to be left outside to whatever fates may befall them. Unfortunate that the kitten paid the price for the lesson.

This is such a beautiful shot of your missing Mister. I am so very sorry for your loss! Maybe someone else will read your story and decide to keep their new kitten indoors where it will be safe. Your story made me cry and I hope you have found a new kitty to make you happy. I am sure Mister would agree.

Tears shed over Mister the first time I saw him, and again now. It is clear that Mister loved the outdoors and didn't sign that contract to be a domestic cat--indoors only. I strongly suspect that someone took him in and is cuddling him as we post. He had a collar, but no ID? Keep looking out for him!

Mister is an adorable little ginger kitten. Why, oh why, did you let him go outdoors? It's so hard to know that this sweet little boy has gone missing - who knows what might have happened to him? Please always keep your kitties indoors!!!

I swear Mister could be the sibling of my Sebastion! Same markings, colour of eyes and scruffiness at a young age. So cute!!!! My Sebastion didn't come home one night and we found him about 45 ft up a tree the next morning, scared to bits. Our kitties are now indoor cats again after only 5 weeks of being allowed outdoors. So sorry for your loss!

What a handsome boy Mister is. Our cats are strictly indoor cats; too many wild animals, cars and mean people to let them go outside and try to fend for themselves.

i love your little Mister... my family learned the hard way too... sence we cant have our kitties inside we are thinking about giving them away. That will be a sad part, my family has grown attached to them. ilove your kitty. i cant even LOL him, he is perfact the way he is!

I suspect cats lose some kind of "edge" if they dwell indoors only. Some purrsonalities may be satisfied with the indoors. Maybe some crave the adventurous, dangerous out-of-doors.
