Kay's Kittens [4]

Karen says: Karen says: I don't belong to a rescue group, I just foster kitties that seem to come my way. If they are taking kittens to the animal shelter or someone dumps them off at their home, I take them and put out my "Kittens" sign. Not a perfect system but our shelter only adopts out 20% (the rest are put down) so it seems like a better way to me. I hand out cards for our low-cost spay/neuter vet and strongly suggest they get them done. I try to do what I can.

My friend Kay is the owner of a mom-cat, who is just called Momma. She is a semiferal barn cat that came to Kay's house from the farm next door. She doesn't let you pet her but she eats and has her babies in Kay's garage. This three were born last summer and were quite friendly kittens (unlike some of litters). Kay named them Peanut, Sassy, and Sweet Pea. Sweet Pea was adopted by neighbor for her granddaughter and renamed Riley. I rehomed the two boys to new families.

Lovely babies. I too have ferals I care for and they break my heart. I keep them fed but they are so feral that the minute I turn the door knob they run!! I wish I could tame the babies but it sure doesn't look like it and in this rural area, no one is interested and there is no Alley Cat Alllies to turn to which is sad.

Momma, you are the greatest! There are angels among us and Karen, you are one of them. I have helped feral kitties through the years. I finally caught one after several months of trying. She became pregnant and was a baby herself. I caught her just in time and brought her to the vet. It turned out all her kittens were dead and she was having a horrible time delivering she was screaming in pain the vet had to intervene. The poor little dear had to be put to sleep because she had an incurable
disease. I thank God I got her to the vet otherwise she would have been suffering alone in pain and frightened.
She is forever in my heart.

How could anyone not take this little thing. So precious and such an expressive face and eyes. I hope he is happier than he looks, which I suspect he is, from your kindness.
