Carmelynn says: Lucy was just an itty bitty kitty -- eyes just opening -- when she was thrown into a dumpster by some horrible person. A kind passerby pulled her out and brought her to my friend Joy, who is a Maine Coon cat breeder. Joy took Lucy in and has been fostering her for the past several weeks. They are in the Chandler, Arizona, area. Now Lucy needs a permanent home. Anyone interested in adopting this darling baby can contact Joy through the Daily Kitten. Update: Joy and her family decided they couldn't part with Lucy and kept her. We're happy to report she is now part of Joy's family!

What a sad little one! She needs a person for herself, her own lap to sit on. I hope she finds a kind, warm person soon!

Oh, my. Such a terribly sad story. I pray she finds the best home on earth! She really needs some loving. If I could I'd stretch my arms all the way over to her so I could pet her. I hope whoever gives her a home gives her an infinite amount of love as well. She's very beautiful. I don't see how anyone could be so cruel as to throw her in a dumpster. I'm so very happy she got saved. Gosh, I'm just blabbering on, aren't I? Well, I hope she finds a perfect home soon. I'm sure whoever looks at her will want very much to keep her.

Our Sousuke has a similar story, 3 weeks old, eyes barely open (with a terrible double eye infection), when somebody threw him outside. A friend found him and brought him to me. It took quite a bit to get him completely healthy again, but today he's a strong guy of almost 2 years old! He used to eat like this as well, possessive of the food dish. He would growl anytime our hands came near, even if it was to give him a little more food. I loathe to think how long he was without food before he was rescued. :( Anyway, Lucy is quite the cutie! I wish I could take her in.

That is sick tossing animals in dumpsters like they are garbage. This little kitty is so darn cute I can't imagine doing such a thing. Hope she gets a good home.

If there is a Hell, I hope people who are cruel to animals (and children and the elderly) get a seat in Extra Hot!

What a beauty. Thank you so much for trying to find her a home. Anyone who is cruel to animals does not deserve to live.

Stories like this just break my heart. What is wrong with people?! I really wish we could take her, but, unfortunately we live in New Jersey.

I'd sooner toss a human baby in a dumpster than a kitten! What an adorable little fuzzball, I'm so glad someone found her in time.

I will NEVER understand anyone's callous disregard for life...lucky for Lucy that someone was there to rescue her! I hope she finds a wonderful home soon! She is an adorable kitten!

OMG! She is so cute, and even though I live in Oakland, I happen to be visiting a friend in Tempe for the next few days. I might be bringing home a kitten!

What a gorgeous baby! I'm 3,000 miles away but if no one closer takes her I would. Animal cruelty hurts my heart.
Susan -
I hope she finds a good home -- she is just precious!
Jennifer -
If you could somehow get her to Mississippi I would love to have her!

I'm so happy this one was rescued; I adopted a full-grown mackerel Maine coon a few years ago, and she had been dumped twice at the local shelter. It turned out she had serious problems—cancerous growths, kidney dysfunction—but we gave her a real home for the rest of her life. This one is a keeper.

Hey Wokkawokka,
Be carefull about what you say. Even with safe surrender laws in most states, human babies are STILL being thrown in dumpsters! NO living creature should be thrown in a dumpster!

Selene,
Hope you bring home Lucy. She looks like she's got a lot of spirit.

...no, Lucy, that's not a litterbox.

God she's adorable. My brother lives in Chandler, AZ, and I'm sure that if I could give her a home here where I am, I could have him get her and bring her to me. But I have four dogs, and our mother is terribly allergic to long-haired cats.

Best of luck finding a home for the sweetie, though! She looks like such a darling!

I LOVE LUCY!!!!! And i hope whoever adopts Lucy gives her lotsa love too--purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrs!!!!!!!!!!!

Awwww she is beautiful. It is a terrible tragedy that someone would do this. I hear about this all the time. I have s kitty that my family rescued some ignorant idiot left him and his brothers and sisters in a plastic bag in a paper bag in a grocery cart on a 90 degree day. Had my brother not found them when he did they would of died in the next 10 minutes. Thank god for sweet souls like you and her rescuer.

Mary - even though you're probably just saying that to get attention, I have to react - if you think this cat - or any cat for that matter - looks sleezy, I suggest you look at yourself in the mirror.
