EliJames37 says: Rocky has been the sweetest, kindest, strongest, most loving cat I have ever known. He was always extremely relaxed and loved to cuddle. He purred constantly, even when he was in pain or discomfort. All his life he has struggled with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) which caused great pain and discomfort. He was on 4 medications, took regular visits (about once a month) to the ER to relieve constipation and had surgery in hopes of stopping the disease. On May 10th (2012) we had to put him down at the age of 7 because of his severe pain and no hopes for recovery. Our other cat is quite distressed, as are all of us at home. We miss Rocky every day and hope that he is in a better place because we know how much pain he was in and that there was nothing left to do because if there was, we would have done it.

rocky's story has both broken my heart for the suffering he endured and made my heart sing for the love and care he enjoyed throughout his life. may the knowledge that he is romping and playing pain free at rainbow bridge bring you some measure of comfort. blessings to all, two-legged and four...

Sometimes letting go is the only humane thing to do. You did everything and provided love and care for him and your last act of this eternal love was, when you relievd him from the suffering. RIP Rocky your memory and the beautiful pictures remain. I wish you and the catbuddy consolation.

Just precious. I'm so sorry for your loss, but you did the right thing. Sometimes loving someone or something means letting go. Rocky looks like he had a beautiful, happy life thanks to you. :)

two yearsago'i had the same experience,and a further six years before! we will miss our delicious love forever! You think that the kitten has lived in a house full of love for him!! Nothing we can'do against the fate!

I too am sorry for your loss. I had to put down one of my fur babies recently due to terminal cancer. The vet told me I was doing the right thing but it was still very painful to lose my baby.

Bless you, Rocky. And bless you, @eliJames. Putting down a beloved cat is surely one of the worst experiences we can ever have, but taking the responsibility to relieve his suffering is so important. I know. All too well.
