\Although Sally is most certainly no longer a "kitten" in the technical baby sense, I still refer to her as my baby kitty. Sally is a female, domestic, indoor feline that we adopted 13 years ago from a family member that could no longer keep her. She is the companion I have spent the most time with, out of any human or non-human on the planet!

Some of Sally's favorite things include: sleeping in cardboard boxes of that look too small for her body, laying/sitting on freshly clean clothes and furring them all up, laying/sitting on projects that humans are working on (especially important paperwork,) gazing longingly out windows, hunting pieces of rope and string- aka: "snakes", hunting straws, hunting pens, being "spooned" in bed, deep-tissue semi-rough neck/back massages, gentle cheek-rubs, relaxing on the porch, basking in sunlight, looking gorgeous at all times, cleaning her butt in front of me at inappropriate times (like when I sit down for dinner), cat-nip, laying on her back with her furry belly exposed, listening to humans have relaxed conversations while she sits in the middle gazing at us, exploring the dirty basement, smelly shoes/socks especially the shoes of guests she isn’t familiar with, soft cat treats, kneading blankets, listening to humans sing to her, eating bugs, “underground” kitty-highways (aka- secret pathways like behind couches or under beds,) scratching furniture, climbing my computer chair, sleeping, sleeping, sleeping, and wiggling her butt at furniture.

Before Sally was a strictly indoor-cat she was a skilled hunter and delivered dead creatures to our door . Now her favorite thing to hunt is a long piece of rope which we call “the snake.” We hide it for a week or two, and then leave it out in a random spot. She usually finds it in the middle of the night, and will hunt it, “kill” it, and carry it in her mouth and deliver it to us in front of our bedroom door. We tease her with it often, but then hide it away for a few days until she forgets about it, and then it re-surfaces for her to hunt again. It is by far her favorite toy, and cost $0.00.

When she isn't curled up in a cardboard box or atop magazines and papers taking a nap, she spends her days grooming and following me around (she even follows me to the bathroom almost every time I get up to go.) Sally loves to hover and annoy during our human dinner-time. One of her favorite non-cat foods is potato chips, and anything that makes a crinkly-bag-opening sound in the kitchen will peak her curiosity. Before we went vegan, her favorite non-cat foods were cheese and marshmallows. Sally loves to investigate any new items that enter the house, including the groceries before they are even taken out of the bags. She enjoys the smell of celery and other fresh herbs, and will often rub all over the grocery bags that contained them. Sally likes to lay on her back and look at humans up-side down, and it often gives her an alien-like appearance & her fangs stick out just a bit when she does so. When Sally was younger she was often bitey and scratchy, but has become more relaxed with age. She still does not appreciate being approached towards her face and belly when she is frisky. She prefers to be approached from behind for pettings. Sally often snores, twitches and appears to dream heavily when she sleeps, especially now that she is older.

Many are impressed with Sally’s gorgeous colors and soft-ness. Sally is awesome, adorable, curious, snuggly, and a little bitchy at times, but most Sally is described by her human friends as beautiful and regal. ;)
