Picky was abandoned by her mother, and rescued by us, along with her brother, who passed away. This is a shot of her fabulous milk mustache, at 4 days old.
Please be sure to stimulate the underside of her belly. Take a warm. damp cotton ball and rub from her middle down to her tail. Kittens don't have the ability to eliminate by themselves. Mother cats lick them to get the process going. You'll need to do this several times a day for about 4 weeks, otherwise they go toxic.
ps also feed them KMR kitten milk replacement. Can get it online cheaper than in stores. Might be good for the Daily Kitten to post info like this. Many people don't know this and are in a state of despair as they watch the kitten get sick. 1) stimulate the belly/genitals to get the kitten to eliminate 2) don't feed the kitten cow's milk, give them KMR or similar
