Lil' Girl and her Siblings [redux]

Jason says: Lil' Girl is one of four kittens that I bottle fed. The mother came and had them under my house and before I could get them set up in my garage a group of stray dogs killed her. I grieved over her for a long time. She was a young cat and had barely lived and had these kittens and then died defending them. I still feel like I let her down in her moment of need. I made it out there too late to save her, but she did save her kittens. Everyone that saw them said they wouldn't live, but I wasn't going to give up on them. She didn't.

There were two black kittens (one male, one female), an almost-all-white female, and then Lil' Girl (a black-and-white female who looked just like her mother who was also called Lil' Girl). Their adoptive dad Nick was very open to the kittens. He played with them and was very protective until he started having his problems at the end. He still tried to play with them up until his final stroke. I raised the kittens and found good homes for three of them and kept Lil' Girl with me. I have to say she has been a godsend. She brings me joy every day.

Lovely story and photos--a combination of tears and smiles. @Jason, you are a good soul. And I remember Nick--in his closeup and story he reminded me of my sweetheart, Natthecat, who continues in memory and name on these pages. And in my heart.

OREO COOKIES!!! That's what this group of fluffballs reminds me of! And what a wonderful kitten rescue story. Very sad about mama, but so thankful that loving people did their best for babies. Good job indeed.

Lil' Girl is adorable, and so are all of her siblings. I'm so glad you were able to save them, even though you were not able to save their brave little mother. And now they are all in loving homes, including yours for Lil' Girl - that's a blessing!

Girl sez: I had sibs - who died and my mom disappeared. My mom Girl Mom came everyday to try to bring us all home but her last visit I was the only one left. She took me home and that was 9 years ago. I am the Girl.
Girl's Mom sez: I still think of her mom and brothers. I did try to find them but all we were able to grab was Girl. Never saw the rest again. Our life with Girl is heaven and I am so lucky to be her Mom. My husband says she is a princess and can do no wrong. I agree.

Your story made me cry. I am so glad that you were able to raise all the kittens and find them homes. Even the father, Nick had a sad life of his own. A stray cat's live has so many "pit-falls". I wish that they did not have to suffer so much. Spay and neuter is the answer. Lil' girl is so pretty here. and I am glad that you adopted her and fought so hard to raise her Mom's kittens.

God bless you for what you did! You couldn't know those dogs would come when they did and you tried your best. I am so sorry for your loss of the mom; she was young and heroic. You are heroic too...raising 4 bottle kittens is a daunting but wonderful job especially when so very little and you did it wonderfully!! You have no blame..there is a special place in Heaven for people like you and Lil' Girl will thank you when you get there!

Prominent Guest, you are not politically incorrect, just honest. I had my kitty of 16 years ripped apart by a pitbull & I couldn't do anything. That said, the story made me cry. Poor Mama, I'm glad you got a picture of her. I hope with all my heart that all of the kittens have found wonderful homes if you didn't keep them all. I'm sorry but it was hard to see through the tears. Bless you...
