Lana says: Last year I fostered five feral kitten siblings from the time they were about six weeks old. I named them all after programming languages: Perl, Ruby, Haskell, Scheme, and Dreamweaver. Ruby and Perl are the mostly-buff-colored ones, Haskell is the grey tabby, Scheme is the orange-and-cream tabby, and Dreamweaver is the longhaired tricolor. When they first arrived, I thought Ruby and Perl were little girls, hence the feminine names. I found out a few days later that they were actually little boys, but the names stuck anyway. Ruby was a very special kitty to me because he was so lovable and he would come up to me and roll over to get his tummy rubbed. Scheme was by far the smallest, the runt of the litter, and had such big eyes that she looked like a bug, so I nicknamed her "Little Bug." Now that I think about it, I guess her nickname was in keeping with the programming theme. She is the cutest kitten I have ever seen. Prince is one of two permanent feline residents. He's about 3.5 years old and was adopted from the humane society as a kitten. Prince would occasionally tolerate the kittens and would even clean them sometimes. Aphrodite, the other resident cat, would completely ignore the kittens except to chase them away if they got too close! Scheme and her siblings have all been happily adopted.
