Pretty Girl at Kitty City

Ed says: Pretty girl is the only tortoiseshell kitten from a litter of six. Some may say that she is just a little shy or reserved but I know she is only holding out for the forever family that SHE wants to adopt. And when the right people come to see her she will surely climb in their lap and purr. Like her littermates, Pretty girl tested positive for FIV on her first test. FIV is not normally passed from a mother to kittens; it is passed from cat to cat by sexual contact or deep bite wounds from fighting cats. Neither of these would be likely for kittens so we are keeping our fingers crossed that they are only showing antibodies from their mom. When they are six months old and we retest we hope they will be clear of FIV. Pretty Girl, Shacker, Cammy, and Scooter are still available for adoption at Kitty City.

This photo made me smile! Such a busy bedroom. What you said about the mother's antibodies showing up in the kitties gives me hope that all these pretty ones will be clear on retesting!

Pretty Girl resembles my tortie Little Girl when mine was a kitten. LG is now 6 years old and has a very pleasant personality, but SHE rules the house here, just like Pretty Girl who will PICK her family. Love your facility and thanks for the cute photos today. Pretty Girl is adorable!

I must make a correction as it was late at night when i was typing the info on Pretty Girl. We have had a rash of FIV and FeLv kittens this summer and i got their condition mixed up when i typed her infomation She is the sister of Cammy and Scooter and Shacker. This litter tested pos for FeLv rather than FIV. We are going to retest any way but Leukemia can be passed during birth and from sharing water. Also every one of the kittens tested pos so it is pretty likely that they do have Feline Leukemia. Feline Leukemia is a little more serious than FIV and more precautions must be taken with food and water dishes because of the way it is transmitted to other cats. Adults usually have a strong enough immune system to fight it off completely.
Sorry for the mistake and thank you all for the wonderful comments you guys are so nice.
