marianne says: Zoey is one of sixteen kittens that were rescued from a high kill county shelter. A Helen Sanders CatPAWS volunteer was at the shelter helping another rescue transport some moms and babies to a safe place when the word came in that sixteen 2 week old kittens had been rounded up by Animal Control and had just arrived. The CatPAWS volunteer found out that they would all be euthanized by noon of that day, just two hours of life left to live. Helen Sanders CatPAWS did not have any foster moms available to take these kittens in if we were to rescue them but we figured we’d worry about that later….somebody had to have an available bathroom and bathtub to hold kittens until we could figure what we were going to do with them. The important thing was to get them out of there and into safe hands, OUR hands. We got them all and yes, someone did have an available bathroom and bathtub and no, we had no idea where they would go or who would take them for us to foster because we literally did not have one single foster home to put them in. Thank goodness for the internet and networking because we put the word out about these babies and our need for fosters and within three days all babies were in their new foster homes, on their way to getting bigger and healthier and eventually ready for their new homes! We have no idea where these kittens came from and we have no idea if any of them are even siblings. They were all picked up from different locations and rounded up. These kittens had been born to die. They escaped that death sentence. Their journey with Helen Sanders CatPAWS has just begun and we will do all that we can to make sure that they get the best homes and the most loving families because they deserve nothing less. Zoey is now 5 weeks old. Just look at that face. What a heartbreaker.
