The mother cat was found living outdoors in my neighborhood. I live near a wooded area where there seem to be quite a few feral cats. Miri, the mother, is clearly not feral, so I think she may have been dumped. My neighbors were feeding her and noticed that she was pregnant. They said she had another litter -- outdoors-- but all the kittens died. They were not able to take her in. I asked them if they could catch her, and they did. She was really thin and VERY pregnant.
I started calling around to various shelters and rescue groups. Before I was able to find a placement for her, she gave birth to four adorable kittens under the bed.
Mom has been vet checked and is healthy and FIV/FLV negative. She's going back for a follow-up visit with her kits next week so we can get their first shots and check the sexes. I think we have two girls and two boys, but I'm not positive.
