We have the same problem here. I've spent many hours searching, looking, and talking to people. They not only refused to help, they demanded we donate to THEM (we're poor - no way we could). We're struggling to take care of 17 kitties (all fixed, most with shots current) and it's difficult.

The local Humane Society demanded $50 a kitty up front (while claiming to be no-kill, turns out they regularly deliver loads of cats to the pound to be killed), the SPCA claims to try to find homes to them but as we found out about them, cats and kittens rarely survive (dog-friendly, but hostile to kitties), and I mentioned the response from the other organizations. We'd flee this area if we could because of the attitudes (we've also had several kitties murdered, and some of the local churches preach against cats). BTW - I rigged up a special fenced area for our kitties, to try to prevent the poisonings and killings. They don't roam.

I hope you find a place that will help. Teddie is a cutie, and I wish someone would step up and help!

TNR for the adult cats! (Trap, Neuter, Return). It's not hard if you have an organization in your area (just google TNR). It saves (and prevents) a lot of lives. The kittens are only the symptoms! It's the adults you have to work on. Good luck! Teddy is gorgeous! Hopefully it will help him find a home!

RDB that is horrible! I am so sorry to you and Laurie that you are having such a difficult time when all you are trying to do is the right thing :( so many people are so misinformed about cats. They are the most wonderful pets!! And they are so loving! You just have to treat them well. I mean, kids that you don't treat well don't turn out very nice either! I will be praying for you both and hope that you can find somewhere to help! If you use facebook you should make a page making people aware of how the humane society and spca really are to cats. I had no idea!!! :(

Teddie is an adorable little kitten,and so is the little white one with him in one photo. I commend you for helping these babies, and hope you will find the proper group to help. Have they all been spayed/neutered? That is really the first step toward control.

Thank you everyone for all your sweet and kind words. Yes Teddy is definately a cutie! I contiually search for more options for placement of the kittens and their mothers. I have contacted a number of no-kill groups in our area, but unfortunately all have been out of our county, thus not willing to help. But, I keep searching, and hope that soon I will find Teddy and the others a good home. :-)

Teddy is such a sweet looking black cattie with nice white markings. There are so many cats and so few homes for them. It is a real predicament. If only people would spay and neuter their catties, then the problem would go away. Thank-you for doing all the nice things for your family of cats. You are right, it costs a lot of money for their shots, food and care. I wish you luck in your quest to find Teddy a home.

cpneale, you are so right. I have 4 boys that are so loving and trusting because they have never been hurt or mistreated by people. I feel I ought to scare them a little so the mean people out there can't walk right up to them and catch them. But, how can I do that when they look at me with their trusting eyes and beg to be petted? People who say cats don't love you have either never had a cat or never treated a cat in a way to inspire love. Lor, I hope you find homes for the cats. It is great that you are trying to clean up this mess that someone else made for you. Kudos!
