Scout [redux]

Kelly says: Scout was found wandering around underneath my sister's car. Apparently he had somehow gotten up under her car and rode like that for about 20 minutes before she arrived home and found him. She felt very sorry for him because he wanted to be indoors so badly. She told me he would hang on the screen door and cry. This wasn't long after I'd lost my cat Brandy. I'd had her since I was nine and she lived to be 18. I loved her very much and I was uncertain about getting another cat. But when my sister told me about this little guy, I caved.

He came to me all flea-bitten and with ear mites (which were quickly taken care of), and he tore through the house like a little gray devil. He didn't like being petted or picked up and refused to sit on my lap. Brandy, on the other hand, had been very sedate and affectionate. At first, I wasn't sure if this was going to work out. But Scout still lives with me in my apartment. He is an amazing jumper and sometimes does back flips off the sloped ceiling when chasing a laser beam. His other favorite pastimes include shredding paper, knocking things off of tables, and refusing to do anything I say. He still hates being picked up or held, but he does sleep every night at the foot of my bed and sometimes he lets me pet him for more than a second. Scout is a little bit of a monster, but he makes me laugh and keeps me company, and I do love him.

It is nice to hear you gave such a crazy cat like Scout a furever home. All cats are different and each have their special personality traits. He is so cute I can see why you want to be able to hold him. Hopefully, in time, he will allow you to do so.

Scout is very handsome; I love his grey-ness. I adopted my Foxy from Petsmart when she was about a year old; she is very independent and will sit beside me but not on my lap.

Scout has definitely conquered the printer. Both my cats seem to think the printer is an enemy--the noise, the paper. I have to move them to another room because of the excitement. I have one lap and neck kitty, and one sit beside me kitty. It's just fine!

Our kitty Snicker Doodles was the same way. After she grew up a bit, she first started letting us pet her, then later started letting us hold her. Now she likes (sometimes) to get in our lap, and she loves to be petted.

Scout is a real beauty, and I hope he keeps you entertained and grows on you - and that you have many years of love and purrs ahead!

His personality comes through loud and clear here, lol. He is much like my Cody who is now almost 2 yrs old. He will let me pet him when he is ready but neither of my cats like to be picked up. Just hang in there, he will mellow some with age. Thanks for taking this handsome boy into your heart.

Such a handsome fellow! I have a completely feral kitty Trixie who will barely be in the same room with me, one that sort of will - Olive, and two who are loving but not the lap or bed types - Charlie & George. You're lucky he sleeps on the bed with you - that's great!
