DCFoF: Rock County Kittens [3]

Alison says: Here are five kittens we photographed at the Rock County Humane Society in Janesville, Wisconsin, as part of our volunteer work with Dane County Friends of Ferals. They were feral and hissy at first, trying to act ferocious, but they were so tiny it was cute! They became tame very quickly with handling. They came to us over a year ago though, and have all been adopted. Please consider adopting a loving pet from your local shelter or rescue.

So glad they became tame with loving and patient handling:) So afraid until they could trust so being ferocious babies seemed the only way to defend themselves. Just cuties:)

one of my 11 yr old boys when a feral kitten had this reaction to me when i removed them from their feral mother. so fierce when so young. moma was finally trapped and spayed.

A pleasure to see these lovelies. They are like the kitties in Victorian paintings and all have been much desired over decades. Very nicely tamed and adopted.

Ohhh such a sweet little face! Young kittens are usually easy to socialize. Older kittens can be too but it takes time. I have socialized some and I usually sit on the floor and read a book out loud. It doesn't happen overnight but their curiosity finally gets the better of them and they come to investigate. As long as I move very slowly in the beginning all goes well and they come around in a few weeks.
